2016 is a Wrap!

Thank you to everyone who came out to swim with us today! We had near perfect conditions and you all did an amazing job.

Thank you also to our paddlers, volunteers, and sponsors.

Results have been posted here.

This year was especially cool because we had our youngest swimmers to completed the 10K and the 1 mile (14 and 12 years old!).

Our 10K course ended up being a little longer than we thought, so you can all pat yourselves on the back for swimming 7+ miles in the Great Salt Lake.

Thanks again! We hope to see you next year.

Big Changes Coming for 2016

Those of you who have been out to the Great Salt Lake this year have undoubtedly notice the extremely low water levels.  Even with an epic snowstorm this winter, we don't anticipate water levels returning to where they were a few years ago.  For that (and many other reasons) we have decided to change the long swim from a point-to-point swim to a looped course near the marina (pending approval from State Parks).

We realize that this does take some of the adventure out of the long swim, but there are many more positive reasons to make this change:

The course is safer
In the event of an emergency, help can be dispatched almost immediately from the marina.

More spectator friendly
The entire course can be seen from the observation deck, which is great for spectators.

More standardized distance
The the water level so variable, having a looped course using the buoys near the marina will help to standardize the distance.

More races
Keeping the race close the the marina will allow us to open up new distances and categories including a 5K and relay options.

More convenient
With the marina as the race HQ, everything is all in one place.  No need for drop bags or shuttles from Black Rock to the marina.  Restroom, water, and the gift shop are all right there.

Lower Costs
Since we will not have to shuttle swimmers and kayakers to the starting point on Antelope Island, we anticipate a reduction in registration price for the longer swim.

These changes are still pending approval from the Harbormaster, but we anticipate they will be approved.  Check back here and on our Facebook page for updates.

2015 Results Have Been Posted

Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered at this year's swim!

We appreciate you patience and understanding with the course changes.  As we were packing up and leaving, the storm was coming in and there was wind and rain at the marina and we saw lightning in the distance.  Some of the Antelope to Black Rock swimmers would have still been on the water.

We will be adding photos to the Facebook page as we get them.

If you swam in either event this year you ought to consider completing the Utah Triple Crown, or the Mini Triple Crown.

Here are a few race reports from the event. If you know of any others, send us an email at

Jay Tapp - 1 mile swimmer
Rachel Wagner - 1 mile swimmer
Jiri Kadlec - 1 mile swimmer - "It was a great swim! I LOVE the Great Salt Lake!"
